Dear Scouting Representative,

Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity will be hosting Merit Badge University 2010

(MBU) on the campus of Auburn University this March 5-7. The scouts will be able to camp

at Chewacla State Park. We will post the directions on the MBU website. On the campus they

will earn merit badges in an accelerated college style atmosphere. In most cases the scouts

will complete an entire badge in their single day of class. Auburn faculty and members of

Alpha Phi Omega will teach the merit badge courses.

Within this packet you will find the following: this letter, scout registration form, adult

registration form, and an information sheet. Each scout wishing to participate should

register online before February 19th and have the registration form completed with

payment and received no later than February 26, 2010. Please note that due to limited

resources, facilities, and safety considerations the merit badge classes have limited

enrollment. These spaces will be assigned on a “first come first served” basis, so early

registration is encouraged. Due to the technical nature of Chemistry, Computers and

Engineering a scout must be in at least ninth grade to take these classes.

A fee of $15.00 must be sent with each registration. This will cover the cost of the

campgrounds, lunch on Saturday, an event patch, and needed materials for the merit

badge classes. Past MBU T-shirts will be available for $12.00 each. Each troop MUST

have at least one person registered and attending as Scout Master. Every troop that plans

on camping needs to please pay particular attention to adult-toscout ratios and

low-impact camping practices.

If you have any further questions please email me at auburn.mbu@gmail.com . Also you

can look for updated information on the web at http://www.aphio-delta.org/aphio/mbu . We

look forward to seeing you on the Plains of Auburn this spring.

Yours in Scouting,

Mark Nugent 2010
